Baptism
BaptismHoly Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments.  Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission. To be baptized at the Cathedral contact our parish coordinator, Shannon Payne. Shannon will assist you in setting up the preparation class with the deacon as well as the completion of the Registration Form for Baptism.
Holy Eucharist
Holy EucharistThe source and summit of the Christian life, Holy Eucharist is where we unite ourselves to Christ, who makes us sharers in his Body and Blood to form a single body. The Eucharist nourishes our life of faith.Second grade students currently enrolled at the Cathedral school will have their sacramental preparation as part of the curriculum. Others are invited to prepare for the sacrament by registering for our Religious Education program. A child must be enrolled in religious education for two years prior to receiving the sacrament.Parents will have a few special meetings to help them in the preparation of their child for this Sacrament. There is a Reconciliation Service, a morning retreat, rehearsal, and a reception following the First Communion at which parents and children participate. A Baptismal Certificate is needed for each child who registers for First Communion unless the child was baptized at the Cathedral.
Reconciliation
ReconciliationThrough reconciliation we receive God's forgiveness. It is through the sacrament we receive Jesus' healing grace through absolution by the priest. A person makes their first confession prior to receiving their first holy communion. Preparation for the sacrament is part of the First Holy Communion class.Once reconciliation is received, Baptized Catholics can receive the sacrament as often as a person wishes to receive the mercy of Jesus for their transgressions or guidance in their spiritual journey. The Church recommends receiving the sacrament of reconciliation at least once a year, typically during the Easter season.
Confirmation
ConfirmationConfirmation seals our life of faith in Jesus, and is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. By the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. High school students seeking the sacrament are asked to   click here to register!
Holy Matrimony
Holy MatrimonyThe matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring; this covenant between baptized persons has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament. Please contact one of the Cathedral priests at least six months before the date of marriage. If you are interested in renting the Ave Maria Hall for your reception, please click here to learn more.
Holy Orders
Holy OrdersThe Sacrament of Holy Orders is for men who are blessed with the call by God to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ. Priests serve as spiritual leaders of their communities, and deacons serve to remind us of our baptismal call to help others. Those men called by God to discern the priesthood are asked to contact our Diocesan office for more information (website).
Anointing of the Sick
Anointing of the Sick“Is any among you sick? Let him call for the presbyters of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and the prayer of faith will save the sick man, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven” (Jas 5:14-15). Call 438-3131 Ext. 10 to make an appointment with a priest for the Anointing of the Sick.
