Music Ministry - Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

The Catholic Music Ministry and Sacred Music Program at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Pensacola, FL.

Music Ministry

Singing is praying twice, right?

“Sing a new song unto the Lord…”

The Cathedral acoustics, formed by tile, brick, and marble, are given dynamism as the people are led in song. The Cathedral Music Ministry does that through dedicated singers and instrumentalists.

The active choirs at the Cathedral include our regular Cathedral Choir (sings weekly at the 11 am Mass), our Cathedral Festival Choir (sings at Diocesan Events and special liturgies), and our Contemporary Choir (sings twice-a-month at the Sunday 5:30 pm Mass). We also have an active Handbell Choir that plays monthly at our 8:00 am and 11:00 Masses.

The Cathedral Music Ministry works to incorporate various instruments. We regularly have flute, clarinet, and trumpet that join our piano and organ-based accompaniment.

We are always looking for additional members. Vocalists at any level of experience are encouraged to join in our practices. Instrumentalists are welcome to participate, and can schedule an audition time with our Director of Music Ministry.

Our Director of Music Ministry, Tom Baroco, is a long-time leader of sacred music programs in our Diocese. He can be contacted at barocot@shc.ptdiocese.org.
